Moving to secondary school can be a scary prospect for both parents/carers and for your children, but it doesn’t have to be. For the students looking to join us in Y6 in September 2024, we are already working hard behind the scenes to allay all fears. 

At Swinton Academy, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive and welcoming school and value each and every student in our care. We would love to meet any prospective students and their families, so we can share with you what Swinton Academy is really about.  

We will also be visiting the children at their primary school, so they can ask questions and put their minds at rest. Students with SEN and those coming to us from out of the area will also be given the opportunity for additional visits. We have planned termly SEN tours of our school. This academic year, we will be holding two Transition days, 25th and 26th June 2024. During these days, the children will enjoy a series of taster lessons and meet a lot of the staff who will become their regular teachers.  It is also a fantastic opportunity for them to start making new friends.  

Prior to your child starting with us, you will receive a number of emails with links to google forms to complete, as well as information about our policies and uniform. We will use the email you put on your secondary school application form submitted to Rotherham LA in October.  If you are concerned we do not have the correct  email address on file for you, please contact us on transition@swintonacademy.org

On Tuesday, 25th June 2024, we will be inviting parents/carers and the Y6 children to join us for an information evening.  Our uniform suppliers will be on-site so that students can try on blazers and PE tops.  Items can also be purchased.  More information about times tec will be sent to parents/carers nearer the time.
