The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme has been a huge success at Swinton Academy with 193 students completing their Bronze or Silver Award since 2013.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award allows students to achieve recognition for aspects of their school and community life. Students will develop life long skills, new friends, overcome personal challenges and will achieve an Award that is recognised by Universities and employers.

Students working towards their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award have to complete four sections, their Volunteering, Skill and Physical sections as well as an Expedition.

Students can choose to continue with an activity they are already doing,  or try something  new.  Students at Swinton Academy have the opportunity to work towards their Bronze Award in Y10 and their Silver Award in Y12/Y13.
