Careers Advice and Guidance at Swinton Academy
Careers & Enterprise Guidance Reviewed Annually. Last Review: 13/09/19
My name is Sarah Sykes and I am the new Careers Adviser at Swinton Academy. I have worked for many years as a Careers Adviser in other schools and colleges in Sheffield and am very pleased to have the opportunity to help students here at Swinton Academy.
I am based in the careers office in the library next door to the IT technicians’ office. I work at the academy on a Tuesday and Friday and will happily welcome any student if they wish to visit me to ask for advice and information about their career plans. I also hold a lunchtime drop in for any student on these days from 12:20 pm.
I offer individual guidance appointments to students at key transition points in their school career and warmly welcome parents/carers to these appointments. Typically appointments are arranged with the assistance of the year teams but students are welcome to book with me directly.
I am happy to receive emails from students and parents/carers wishing to book an appointment.
I would like to take this opportunity to recommend some useful websites for students and parents/carers to browse in order to help with the sometimes bewildering career decision making process. Please see the websites below:
