GCSE Results 2019
We are delighted with the results of our Y11 cohort 2019, all of whom have now progressed to places at either Post 16, local colleges, apprenticeships and other Post 16 providers.
68% of students gained a 4+ (standard pass) in English and Mathematics combined. 47% gained a grade 5+ or above in English and Mathematics combined. This is 4% above national for 2019.
25.19% of the cohort were entered for the English Baccalaureate/EBacc. 76.47% of this cohort achieved a band 4+ in this suit of qualifications. 58.82% of this cohort achieved a grade 5+. The Government refers to this as a ‘strong’ pass. The academy’s 25.19% entry rate into EBacc qualification is above the all Rotherham schools figure of 23%. The Ebacc average point score was 4.11. This is 0.5 above national for 2019.

62.22% of students gained a grade 5+ and 21.48% gained a grade 7+ in English
This is above national data and the average data for other Rotherham schools.
75.56% of all students gained a grade 4+ in Maths
57.04% of students gained a grade 5+ and 19.26% gained a 7+ in Maths
Like English, this is above both the national and Rotherham averages.
Progress 8 score
The progress 8 score for Swinton Academy was a positive 0.18. This is in line with the national average. We are very pleased with the progress that was made by our Y11 cohort of 2019.

Post 11 Destination measures
At Swinton Academy we are committed to ensuring that students leave with the necessary skills and qualifications to access Post 16 education or training. 2017 data shows that 134 of the 136 (98.5%) students who progressed from Y11 at Swinton Academy went into full time education or training. In 2018 129/134 (96.2%) students from Y11 at Swinton Academy went into full time education or training.
In 2019, all Y11 students from Swinton Academy successfully progressed into full time education or training. All these figures are well above the Rotherham average of 93% and that of State funded schools in England, which is 94%. We are extremely proud of these successes.

74% of students were accepted onto university courses. 83% of these students got accepted onto their first choice courses, all other students were accepted onto their second choice courses.
20% of students went into full time employment
2.9% of students have been accepted onto an apprenticeship.
2% of students are resitting A level qualifications
