Swinton Academy academised in October 2016, joining the ’Aston Community Education Trust’ (ACET), a rapidly expanding, cross-phase, multi academy trust which currently consists of eleven other secondary and junior academies.
Swinton Academy is an improving and popular 11 – 18 school with over 864 students on roll. The number of students joining us continues to increase weekly, expanding the diversity of our community, one where everyone is equally welcomed and valued. We recognise and celebrate diversity and tolerance. We are proud to promote all British Values.
Our post-16 provision is provided in partnership with Aston Academy, another Rotherham academy and part of our trust, giving our students access to a greater variety of academic and vocational courses as well as the opportunity to work with other students across the trust.
In Y7 – Y11, our students are provided with, and challenged by, a knowledge and skills based curriculum which supports their academic, personal and pastoral needs. All staff are committed to and passionate that our young people should leave us as well qualified, confident, resilient and responsible young citizens ready to take up, and make a significant contribution to their important roles in society.
At Swinton Academy we have the highest expectations and aspirations of all our students and expect them to wear their school badge with pride, representing our community by always working to the best of their abilities, showing respect and acceptance of others as well as being polite, courteous and well behaved.
We also encourage our students to play an active role in all of the other exciting opportunities that are made available to them, be this through House competitions, fund raising opportunities, the wide variety of extra-curricular clubs on offer and the many trips and visits we organise.
At Swinton Academy we are also determined that teaching and learning will always be of the highest quality and are committed to continually improving in this area by investing in professional development opportunities for all our staff. Classroom practice should reflect our ethos that ‘everybody will do everything possible to ensure our young people succeed in every way’. We want our students to value their learning and develop in to lifelong learners.
We are very proud of our academy and all our students and we continually strive to provide them with the best education possible. We all look forward to working with you over the next academic year and encourage you to contact us should you wish to discuss any aspects of our academy further.
